Poems

Welcome, O Spring!  With royal cheer
We celebrate thy glad New Year.
May  it be filled with new delights.
With greater knowledge, faith more  bright.

New health and strength, a firmer will
All other hearts with  joy to fill;
Forgetting self from day to day,
To follow in the "Perfect  Way."

New sympathy with other's creeds,
New tenderness for other's  needs,
New prayers for all who live on earth,
New aspirations and new  birth.

New laws for humankind - that strife/aggression shall cease, For  He has come
who brings Peace;
That shall serve in bonds of love,
All  supplicating One God above.

New efforts to go forth and bring,
The  weary ones unto the King;
That He in Power upon His Throne,
In Love may  claim them for His own.

He calls to the world Behold!
All things are  New - passed is the old!
Passed is the winter's icy breath,
Life's Spring  is here with fragrant breath;

New leaves and buds, new upturned  sod,
New understanding of our God;
New Love which casts out all  fear,
New Peace, new Joy, a Merry New Year.

Written by: Willi, Baha'i World  Center, Haifa,  Israel

"Rolling,rapidly  advancing
Majestically thundering
Comes the New Year.
This one is even  more special.
Past the year of turmoil and tumult
Drought and   floods
Earthquakes and landslides also bribes.
O what a tehelka [Indian  word for uproarious turmoil]!
Surely the earth is groaning,  weeping,
Fuming and fracturing
For the peoples who walk upon it
Are so  complacent and heedless of the
Call of their Lord-One and only
Saviour-Ya  Baha'u'l-Abha!
O God, the century of respite is over.
A new Epoch has  dawned
A new Plan unfolds
The embryonic stage is no more.
The Community  of Baha is ready
Studying and learning and serving
Such is the magic of  the Institutes
Clusters listed out
Pioneers, home front or  otherwise
All set to win their prize.
A new humanity is  goal
Phoenix-like, from ashes to the
Dazzling skies.
Let's all  arise
My heart, on this Naw-Ruz day
Cries!
